Interviews for TIP will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel.
(900 10th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001)
Interviews are conducted in the hotel rooms reserved by the employer. Each room at Embassy Suites has a den/living room separate from the guests sleeping quarters. Embassy Suites offers a discounted room rate of $234.00 (pending availability) to Program participants until January 31, 2008.
Employers are responsible for making their own reservations and for all hotel expenses. Reservations can be made through 1-800-EMBASSY or by booking online at: http://www.hilton.com. Each employer should be certain to reserve one room for each interview schedule, and to identify the entity they represent as a participant in the TIP using the three letter code “TAX” when reserving online.
Reservations should be made in the name of the person who will physically be checking into the room and must be made for the evening of Thursday, February 28, 2008 (the actual date for the 2008-2009 academic year will be posted soon) even if participants do not plan on actually checking in until the morning of Friday, February 27, 2009.
Interviewers will be charged a fee of $35.00 for any check-out times between 12:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008. For any check-out times after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008, employers will be charged an additional night at the prevailing rate for the room. THIS IS A NEW POLICY INSTITUTED BY THE HOTEL FROM LAST YEAR, for the 2009 program we will be including the new rates soon.
Interviews during TIP will take place in the employer’s individual suite at the hotel. Please note that employers may not interview in their D.C. office, as student schedules will not permit travel outside of the hotel on the Program date.

Yes. TIP is a 100% pre-screened program. Employers will be able to print out resumes and other materials they request (transcripts, cover letters, etc.), from all students who bid for an interview with that employer. The employers will then review these documents and select those students whom they wish to interview, as well as alternates if they so desire. The Program has been scheduled so as to ensure that most Fall semester grades are available, so that we can provide participating employers with all the information they need to make a well-informed decision when selecting interviewees.
TIP is open not only to Tax LL.M. students, but also those students from Georgetown Law who are obtaining the Employee Benefits and Estate Planning Certificates without receiving the Master’s degree (LL.M.), as well as dual J.D./LL.M. in Taxation candidates. Employers should be sure to review students’ resumes carefully to determine if the student is enrolled in a Certificate program in conjunction with the Tax LL.M. or as a stand alone Certificate.

Yes. The simple online registration form provides ample space for employers to provide as lengthy or as brief a job description or hiring criteria summary as they wish. This information will be communicated directly to students, who will then be aware of the employer’s needs and requirements when deciding whether to bid for an interview.
As both New York University School of Law (NYU) and Georgetown University Law Center (Georgetown Law) do not rank students within their respective LL.M. programs, employers will not be able to specify “top third of class” or “top ___ per cent”.

Employers may interview as many students as they like, and can choose interview lengths of either 20 or 30 minutes. One interview “schedule” (a full day of interviews for a single interviewer or team of interviewers) accommodates up to nineteen 20-minute interviews, or up to thirteen 30-minute interviews. If you would like to interview more students, you can add additional schedules at a fee of $300.00 if you are a private entity.1 If you would like to interview fewer than the maximum number of students on a schedule, or to interview students only for a portion of the Program day, we are happy to accommodate. All employers whose schedules go past 12:00 noon on Friday, February 27, 2008, will be charged a $35.00 fee by the hotel this year. A standard full-day schedule begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. Employers can select up to 10 alternates. PLEASE NOTE THIS YEAR EMPLOYERS WILL BE CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL DAY FOR THEIR SUITE AT THE PREVAILING (NOT DISCOUNTED RATE) BY THE HOTEL IF THEY DO NOT VACATE THEIR ROOMS BY 4:30 P.M. ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29, 2008.

Employers select the students whom they would like to interview. The students then select their own interview time. Employers may “block out” certain portions of the day for breaks, or to allow interviews to start later in the day or finish earlier. Once an employer has selected the students they would like to interview. The interviewees are notified and are instructed to choose an interview time through our automated online system. When a student logs in, he/she will see all a list of all available interview slots – i.e., all slots which have not been blocked out by the employer or filled by another student. Once all selected students have scheduled their interviews, employers may log in to view their schedules.

8. How much does participation in the Program cost?
Employers who register to interview at TIP pay an initial registration fee of $400. To add other regional offices or a second interview schedule, $300 will be added on. For example, if your D.C. office signs up today to interview 13 students, and your New York office decides next week to participate as well, and wants to interview 15 more students, the firm’s total registration fee would be $700. Employers may also choose to collect resumes only, and forego interviewing on-campus in conjunction with the Program. Resume collections may be done for a fee of $200, and are also managed online up until the students have submitted their resumes. After that point, employers may contact the students they wish to interview directly and not through Symplicity.

Employers who wish to collect resumes from TIP-participating students, but would prefer not to conduct on-campus interviews, may register to conduct a “resume collection only” for a fee of $200.

Registration fees are refundable only until January 31, 2008 (note that the date for the 2009 TIP program will be posted soon). After this point, refunds will not be provided for any reason.
