London Summer Program
Application
All applications should be submitted online. The application deadline has been extended - All applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
- Georgetown students, students enrolled at other US law schools and graduates of US law schools should apply here.
- Law school students currently studying at an institution outside of the US and graduates of such institutions (who do not also hold a US law degree) should apply here.
-
- Note: Applicants will need to submit a letter of good standing and a transcript from their home university, as well as proof of their English proficiency as outlined here.
Enrollment is limited to ensure small classes. Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis beginning in late January, so early application is recommended. Application review will begin following the posting of fall semester grades. The deadline for posting first-year grades is January 24. Applications received on or before January 24 will be given equal priority.
Students are required to submit preliminary course selections as part of their application. Although every effort will be made to accommodate all course requests, courses could fill up in advance of the April 1 application deadline. As mentioned below, admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis, so early application is highly recommended. A student's seat in a particular course is not confirmed until his or her tuition deposit is received. If a course becomes oversubscribed, students will be placed on a wait-list for that course.
Admission and Payments
Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis beginning in late January. Applicants will be notified within three weeks of receipt of all application materials. A partially refundable $250 tuition deposit (and a $200 housing deposit for those who wish to reserve program housing) will be due within two weeks of notification of acceptance. These sums will be applied toward the final tuition and housing charges.
The summer program is unable to provide direct financial assistance to program participants. However, Georgetown University Law Center will process forms for loans or other benefits for which a student may be eligible.
Admission Schedule
Deadline extended - Apply Now!
Within 2 weeks of notification of acceptance: $250 tuition deposit due (plus $200 housing deposit if applicable), credited toward total program costs.
April 30, 2013: Deadline to request a partial refund (up to $100 of each applicable deposit) if you choose to withdraw from the program.
May 23, 2013: Balance of tuition and Georgetown housing charges (if applicable) due.*
*Students are eligible for a partial refund of tuition and Georgetown housing charges up to a maximum of the full amount less $550 if a serious medical condition or other emergency makes attendance impossible. The maximum refund will be reduced by an amount equal to any unavoidable losses or costs (e.g., inability to re-rent a paid dorm room). In order to receive a refund, you must notify us in writing and you must also provide adequate documentation showing that a serious medical condition or other emergency caused your withdrawal from the program.
Please note: Students who withdraw from the program or from program housing are required to notify the Office of Transnational Programs in writing. Notification should be sent to OTP at transnational@law.georgetown.edu. Students who fail to e-mail OTP directly will be held financially responsible for all applicable charges.
Accommodation for Disability
Georgetown University Law Center welcomes applications from students with disabilities. However, not all public buildings in the U.K. are accessible. Applicants should be aware of these limitations.
Students in the London Summer Program who need accommodations for a disability while in London must contact Laura Cutway, Director of Disability Services at Georgetown Law, within two weeks following admission. Ms. Cutway can be reached at lmc228@law.georgetown.edu or 202-662-4042. The London Summer Program provides accommodations for students with disabilities including physical disabilities, learning and attention disorders, chronic health conditions, and psychological disabilities. Students are responsible for identifying themselves to Laura Cutway in sufficient time to allow for receipt of proper documentation and coordination of services.
Cancellation Policy
Georgetown reserves the right to alter or cancel this program. Cancellation may occur due to unforeseen international events that could substantially inhibit program operations or seriously compromise student safety, or other unforseen circumstances. Cancellation due to under enrollment would occur before April 22, 2013. In the event that the program is cancelled, the Law Center will make efforts to arrange for students to enroll in another program. If we cancel the program, all tuition and housing payments will be returned. Our first overseas program was in 1988; to date, we have never canceled a summer program.
