While we will continue to accept and review applications throughout the spring and summer, the first-year JD preferred application deadline is March 1, 2024.  The Admissions Committee encourages anyone who is considering applying to do so by this date, if possible.

Imagine earning your Juris Doctor a short walk from the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court and countless global companies, think tanks, and NGOs that call Washington, D.C. home. At Georgetown University Law Center, learning the law while participating in the action at the nation’s highest levels will prepare you for a future of limitless opportunities. Our J.D. students leave here ready to be superb lawyers who make a difference in public life and private practice — in fields that touch on all aspects of domestic and international law.

While many students come to us with an interest in a certain career path, Georgetown Law’s unmatched experiential learning programs can help you discover your passion. Our campus is a bustling hub of legal debate and scholarship, where on any given day you may have the chance to listen in on talks and conferences that feature world leaders and international legal experts. All of our students participate in clinics, practicum courses, externships, and simulation courses throughout their second and third years.

As a J.D. student, you will experience the law first-hand — whether you are assisting in the drafting of actual legislation, helping a professor prepare oral arguments for a Supreme Court hearing, or guiding clients through legal challenges — all while earning a degree respected throughout the world.
