Ian Ballon (LL.M. ’88), a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, recently authored The Complete CAN-SPAM Act Practice Guide (Thomson West, 2008), which analyzes the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act of 2003. Ballon served as lead counsel to MySpace in MySpace Inc. v. Sanford Wallace — resulting in an award of more than $223 million, one of the largest damage awards ever granted under the act. He has also released a second edition of E-Commerce and Internet Law: Treatise with Forms (Thomson West, 2008).
David Brody (L’87) has written Cabal of the Westford Knight: Templars at the Newport Tower (Martin and Lawrence Press, 2008). In the book, a modern-day protagonist takes readers on a tour of 600-year-old sites and artifacts throughout New England, sites and artifacts that provide compelling evidence that the heirs to Jesus’ bloodline sought refuge in North America 100 years before Columbus.
Marshawn Evans (L’05) has written Skirts in the Boardroom: A Woman’s Survival Guide to Success in Business and Life (Wiley, 2008). The book provides “substantive guidance for today’s … modern woman whose 9-to-5 looks like a journey through a mine field as she navigates a male-dominated, stereotype-laden corporate arena.”

Barbara Lauren (L’80) has edited The College Admissions Officer’s Guide, published by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO, 2008). The guide addresses a variety of responsibilities ranging from recruitment and affirmative action to admissions processing and more. Lauren is associate director for research and policy analysis at AACRAO.
Bruce J. McNeil (LL.M.’83, G’87) has authored the 2009 edition of Nonqualified Deferred Compensation Plans (Thomson West) and continues to serve as editor in chief of the Journal of Pension Planning and Compliance and the Journal of Deferred Compensation (Aspen Publishers).
Trial attorney Judith O’Sullivan (L’96) published “A Drop of Deadly Ink” in the Deadly Ink 2008 Short Story Collection (Deadly Ink Ltd., 2008).
Dr. Harold Peckron (LL.M.’79) has authored a book on corporate governance and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act entitled SOX: The Complete Planning Guide (Specialty Technical Publishers, 2008).

Jason Pedersen (L’92) completed his second book, The Wall Street Primer: The Players, Deals, and Mechanics of the U.S. Securities Market (Praeger 2008), after taking a hiatus from investment banking to spend more time on family and entrepreneurial pursuits. He and his wife, Heather, welcomed the birth of their third child and first son, Dane Thomas, on February 8, 2008. The Pedersens live in the San Francisco Bay Area where Jason recently joined the board of trustees of Marin Montessori School.
David Post (L’86), a professor of intellectual property and cyberspace law at Temple University, has penned In Search of Jefferson’s Moose: Notes on the State of Cyberspace (Oxford University Press, 2009). “For Jefferson, the American moose represented the vast possibilities of the strange and uncharted territory in the New World,” the press release reads. “Post argues that the Internet is our moose.”
Evan J. Roth (L’86) has co-authored Strategic Legal Writing (Cambridge University Press, 2008). Roth is an assistant U.S. attorney in Portland, Maine, and an adjunct professor at the University of Maine School of Law.
John Washlick (LL.M. ’89) has authored a chapter of Inside the Minds: Compliance Issues and Trends (Aspatore Books, 2008). The chapter describes the major governance issues faced by health care organizations, outlines the benefits of a compliance plan and gives tips on advising clients. Washlick is co-chair of the health law practice group at Cozen O’Connor.
“Straightaway,” a short story by Mark Wisniewski (L’84), was chosen by Salman Rushdie to appear in The Best American Short Stories 2008.

Michael Allan Wolf (L’77) has written The Rezoning of America: Euclid v. Ambler (University Press of Kansas, 2008) — the story behind the historic 1926 Supreme Court decision that still dictates policy for every zoning official and urban planner in the United States. Wolf is a professor at the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law.
The Green Bag, a journal dedicated to good legal writing, announced in December its annual list of outstanding writing for 2008 — and two of the three winners in the “Judicial Opinions” category are members of Georgetown Law’s board of visitors. M. Margaret McKeown (L’75, H’05), a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, was recognized for Anderson v. Terhune, 516 F.3d 781 (9th Cir. 2008). Robert A.
