Alumni Awards, Recognitions and Appointments

Margaret Downie (L’84) was named to the Arizona Court of Appeals by then Gov. Janet Napolitano. Downie has served as a judge on the Maricopa County Superior Court since 1997.
Sol Glasner (L’81), vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of the MITRE Corp., was presented with a Corporate Counsel Career Achievement Award by the Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association in 2008.
The Executive Women’s Golf Association has named Christine McInerney (L’86) as the 2008 EWGA Businesswoman of the Year. The award recognizes a EWGA member who has demonstrated exemplary business leadership, skills and talent to achieve success both on and off the golf course. McInerney is a partner and commercial litigator with Ruskin Moscou Faltischek in Long Island, N.Y.
Jeffrey J. Reich (C’76, L’80) was elected a judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County in November 2007 and took office in January 2008. In October, he was invested as a knight in the Order of Malta, Federal Association. He is also the immediate past president of the Lancaster Bar Association and an elected member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s House of Delegates.
Susan Girardo Roy (L’96) was appointed a judge on the Newark Immigration Court in March 2008. She previously served as senior attorney and assistant chief counsel at the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement in the Department of Homeland Security.

Ken Tecler (L’71) was presented with the annual Housing Honor Roll Award at the Montgomery County, Md., Housing Opportunities Commission’s annual meeting in February for his work as a dedicated public official and a strong supporter of affordable housing. He has served as legal counsel for the commission for the past 30 years.
Marna Tucker (L’65) was honored by the National Organization for Women with the 2008 “Intrepid Award.” The award honors women in a variety of fields who are “resolutely courageous, fearless and bold.” Tucker, who was elected the first female president of the District of Columbia Bar and the National Conference of Bar Presidents, was honored for her inspiring career.
