2011 Everett Bellamy Negotiation Competition: This year's ADR intra-school spring competition was the most competitive and most successful ADR competition ever. We had over 150 competitors for only 16 team slots. Each competitor negotiated two rounds on Feb. 26 and Feb. 27 and the top 16 were selected to negotiate in front of an esteemed panel of practitioners and faculty. This year's Bellamy winner is Dominic Carucci (L '12). In addition, this year we named the competition after Dean Everett Bellamy because of his dedication to the ADR Division. During the past decade, Dean Bellamy has been instrumental in the creation of the ADR Division and we believe this is an excellent way to thank and honor him for his initial vision and continued support of the ADR Division of Barristers' Council.
International Commercial Mediation Competition (ICC - Paris): Senayt Rahwa (L '11), Julie Polovina (L '12), and Vikram Kapoor (L '12) defeated over 50 other teams to place in the top 8 teams at this notoriously competitive mediation competition in Paris. They spent the past six months preparing and cemented Georgetown Law's reputation as a ADR powerhouse.
ABA Regional Negotiation Competition: In November 2010, ADR sent two teams (and coach Steve Altman) to the competition hosted by Regent University in Virginia Beach. Of a field of 28 competitors, Alexander Tanenbaum (L ’12) and Mike Crenshaw (L ’12) took home first place overall, beating out both the host school and various other Mid-Atlantic ADR schools. By winning regionals, they qualified to compete in the ABA National Negotiation Competition, where they reached the semifinals in a field of 24 schools, narrowly missing a place in the national finals. Both competitions required intense preparation and research into novel areas of Intellectual Property Law, and involved 50 minute negotiations against other teams while being observed by coaches, judges, and other spectators.

Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition: Ayotunde Otukoya (L ’11), Chidinma Ume (L ’11), Edward Mitchell (L ’12), and Jaustin Ohueri (L ’11) took first place in the Mid-Atlantic Regional, maintaining Georgetown’s traditionally strong performance. At the National Finals in Houston, the team advanced to the quarterfinal round and Ayo was awarded National Best Advocate First Runner-Up.
National Trial Competition: Trisha Pasdach (L ’11) and Dan Starck (L ’12) took first place in the NTC Regionals, beating out rivals from the University of Maryland and getting a berth in the National Finals. They brought home the regional trophy for the first time since their coach, Amy Jaquette Collen (L ’06), won the tournament.
This represents the first time in Georgetown’s history that both the Thurgood Marshall and NTC first place trophies will be on display in the lobby of Hart Auditorium.
Interamerican University of Puerto Rico Trial Advocacy Competition: Stacey Kime (L '11), Bryan Kennedy (L '11), Palmer Heenan (L '11), and Elisabeth Sperle (L '11), finished second overall. This tournament, one of the nation's most prestigious, invitation-only competitions, hosted ten of the country's most competitive trial advocacy teams. The Georgetown team defeated three teams to arrive at the final round, where they lost in a hotly contested trial to Harvard University.
