Office of the Dean of Students
The Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS) oversees student life at Georgetown Law. We focus on issues affecting the student community and act as the primary liaison between students, faculty and the administration. Think of ODOS as your portal to the Law Center.
Our affiliate offices include Residence Life, Student Life, Disability Services, and the Center for Wellness Promotion. Together, our programs and services include academic and personal counseling, mentoring through the Peer Advisor and Resident Fellow programs, guidance for 90+ student organizations, tutoring and academic support programs, disability services and accommodations, on-campus housing and community programs at the Gewirz Student Center, and a wide range of healthy living programs to promote balance as you navigate the law school experience.
ODOS conducts the J.D. Orientation program and 1L 101, a continuing orientation program that offers academic support for first-year students. ODOS partners with the Office of Public Interest & Career Services and the Office of Career Services for the Search Before The Search, which emphasizes reflective, values-driven decision-making among first-year J.D. students, and supports the work of the Law Center's nationally-recognized Lawyers in Balance program, a course that provides students with a unique opportunity to incorporate mindfulness and meditation into their law school experience.
Students are always welcome to visit the office and to ask questions or share concerns affecting the Law Center community.
Applications for the 2013-2014 Peer Advisor program are now available (due 5 p.m. on Monday, February 11): new applicants or returning applicants.
