Office of the Dean of Students
Mitchell Bailin, Dean of Students, oversees student life at the Law Center, including supervision of the Student Life, Residence Life & Student Programs, Wellness Promotion and Disabilities Services offices. He also provides personal and academic advising; develops and supervises co-curricular programs for J.D. students, including fall orientation, continuing orientation for 1Ls, and programs on professionalism; and coordinates the Law Center's response to urgent student matters. Prior to coming to Georgetown, Dean Bailin practiced in the litigation department at Palmer & Dodge LLP in Boston, where he focused on the representation of schools and colleges. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Dean Bailin held a number of positions before attending law school, including Assistant Dean of the Harvard University Summer School.
Corinne Crews, Special Assistant to the Dean of Students, manages the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Dean of Students. She conducts research for Dean Bailin, plans events and meetings for students and administrators, and assists the ODOS team with its student leadership and wellness programming. She was recently trained as a Lawyers in Balance facilitator and looks forward to helping Georgetown Law students defuse stress and discover a sense of agency through meditation. Prior to coming to Georgetown in February 2017, Corinne worked in graduate student services at George Washington University. She earned a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs from the University of Virginia and is interested in how students and universities tell their stories.

Maura DeMouy, Director of Academic Success, provides personal and academic advising; develops and presents the 1L 101 workshop series; oversees the peer tutoring program; provides additional resources for academic success to students, including individual sessions on study skills, exam taking, legal writing, course and extracurricular activity selection, and career strategies; advises Barristers’ Council; works with the Center for Wellness Promotion on wellness initiatives; and serves as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Prior to coming to Georgetown, Maura was the Dean of Students at The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law. Before CUA Law, at the University of Maryland School of Law, she taught Legal Research and Writing a for over eight years and a skills course preparing women for law practice. She also coordinated the LEAD Initiative, which helped students prepare for practice with curriculum and programs focused on leadership development, cultural competency and ethics. Prior to Maryland Law, she was an associate at Hogan & Hartson.
Chris Hall, Director of Residence Life and Student Housing, has been a part of the Georgetown community since 1999. Prior to coming to Georgetown Law, Chris worked for an educational foundation in Washington, D.C. focusing on civics and government, and for Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. He holds a B.A. in political science and history and an M.A. in Liberal Studies. Chris lives with his wife and two daughters in nearby Silver Spring, MD. A native Texan, Chris is a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and accustomed to taking on the fans of the local team!
Judith Pérez-Caro, Ph.D., Director of Equity, Community, and Inclusion, serves as a resource for students who are historically underrepresented in the legal profession; develops, supports, and sponsors programs that explore the intersection of social justice and diversity, and provides faculty with curriculum design resources for a more inclusive classroom experience.
Karen Pierce, Director of Wellness Promotion and Club Athletics, is a Certified Wellness Practitioner, Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor, and has a B.S. and M.S. in physical education. Some of the events that you may associate Karen with include the Health Fair, Dean’s Challenge for fitness and wellness, the annual dodge ball tournament and summer softball league. She is also the student health insurance liaison at the law center. Karen invites you to stop by her office, located in McDonough 167.
Nicole Sandoz, Director of Student Life and Sexual Assault & Relationship Violence Liaison, oversees the Office of Student Life and its many co-curricular programs, including Orientation, our 120+ student organizations, the Peer Advisor program, and room scheduling. She is the primary administrative liaison to the Student Bar Association and is a facilitator in the Lawyers in Balance program. Nicole also serves as the SARVL for the Law Center. Nicole provides support and confidential options counseling to student survivors of sexual assault and other forms of relationship violence.
