Meet Your Summer Resident Advisors
2014 Summer Resident Advisors
Deddeh Asumana Jones (Apt. 610)
Deddeh was born in the West African country of Liberia. She and her family immigrated to the U.S. where she grew up in the New England area by way of Boston, MA and Providence, Rhode Island. Deddeh earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science with a concentration in Black Studies from Boston College. After college, she accumulated several years of diverse work experience as a paralegal in areas such as campaign finance reform, commercial transactions, real estate, tax, and government affairs.
Upon relocating to the Midwest, Deddeh matriculated into Michigan State University (MSU) College of Law. As a law student, she studied abroad in London and worked as a student clinician at MSU's Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. As a 2L, Deddeh spent her spring semester in D.C. as a legal intern at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). During the summer before her 3L year, Deddeh worked as a summer associate at the law firm of Miller Canfield in Detroit, MI.
Most recently, Deddeh has spent her entire 3L year at GULC as a special admitted student in its JD/LLM program in tax. In May 2014, she will graduate with her JD from MSU and will to return in the fall to complete her LLM at GULC.
In between studying for the bar exam, this summer Deddeh is looking forward to enjoying the warm weather after such a snowy winter. Also, she is a loyal fan and avid connoisseur of a wide variety of TV shows like Downton Abbey, The Walking Dead, The Mindy Project, Game of Thrones and The Good Wife. She won't turn down a good conversation about one of her favorite TV shows. To stay active, Deddeh likes playing basketball and plans to try out yoga.
Chris Cialeo (Apt. 1010)
Chris was born and raised in San Diego, California and earned his BA in Political Science and Sociology from UC Irvine (Home of the Anteaters). After interning in the US Senate for a summer during college, Chris made it his mission to make it back to DC someday. He worked on a number of different campaigns after undergrad, moving from California to Iowa, Iowa to Florida, and finally moved back to DC before law school. As an avid foodie, Chris is always looking for new places to eat around the city (especially Mexican and Cajun food!). On weekends, you'll likely find Chris biking or jogging along DC's many scenic routes, including the National Mall, Rock Creek Park, and Mt. Vernon Trail. He will be a 2L at Georgetown Law this fall. This is Chris's third summer in the District, and he looks forward to helping you become better acquainted with the city and everything it has to offer!
Jacob Kearney (Apt. 210)
Jacob was born in the Queen City of the Rockies, Helena, MT or otherwise known as the last best place! Between then and now he has received degrees in economics and political science from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA; studied for a brief stint in the birth place of the Renaissance: Florence Italy; and now is working on his J.D. from Georgetown Law. Always up for an adventure, Jacob enjoys exploring the outdoors, experiencing new varieties of cuisine, and especially seeing new things. Welcome to D.C.!
Devin Prater (Apt. 610)
A self-described "citizen-of-the-world," Devin is a former military brat and has lived in countries all across the globe, but DC has been one of her favorite cities so far! She graduated from Howard University with a degree in Political Science and began her studies at Georgetown Law immediately after. Devin is very committed to criminal justice reform and has worked at the DC Public Defender Service, the Southern Center for Human Rights, and the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission. This year, she also spent her time as a student attorney in the Criminal Defense and Prisoner Advocacy Clinic. Devin loves visiting museums, trying new restaurants, and baking! Contact her anytime if you have questions or would like to grab coffee! Welcome to DC and your new Gewirz home!
Andrew Whitman (Apt. 210)
Andrew is a mover. He started his life in Cincinnati, a city known for its Graeters ice cream (go to Safeway and get some. Like now. Seriously why are you even still reading?). He then moved to sunny LA and graduated from the University of Southern California, majoring in International Relations and Global Business. After spending four years in the California desert learning how to surf and taking in the awesomeness of In-n-Out Burger, Andrew decided to return to the East and run a judicial campaign. This sparked his interest in law school and the rest is history. While in college, Andrew studied in Spain and spent a summer in Ecuador, volunteering for local firemen. Andrew enjoys meditation, good food, and good company. If you see him around, offer him a high-five; it's physically impossible for him to turn one down.
Most of all, welcome!
