Meet your 2017 Summer Resident Advisors!
Anebi Adoga - GSC 406
Anebi is a Double Hoya who hails from the great State of Maryland. He graduated from Georgetown College in 2016 with an A.B. in Government and a minor in Spanish and is currently a rising 2L at the Georgetown University Law Center. As an undergraduate at Georgetown University, Anebi was actively involved in campus ministry, the performing arts, and advancement.
Anebi currently serves as Co-Chair of the Class of 2016 Alumni Committee. Anebi has been blessed to serve as a corporate, congressional, and nonprofit intern in recent summers. He is an avid sports fan, who has loved the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens since he was a young child. Above all, he loves his God, Country, Family, and Friends. He looks forward to enhancing the summer experience of all of his residents in Gewirz this summer.
Juan Manuel Vazquez - GSC 406
Juan Manuel grew up in Tucuman, Argentina. He obtained his Law degree in the National University of Tucuman (ARG) in September 2012. After living in London, UK for a semester, he pursued a Masters Degree program in Taxation at Austral University in Buenos Aires (ARG). In 2015, he was granted a Fulbright Scholarship to continue his graduate studies in the US. In May 2017, he graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with an LL.M in Taxation and a Certificate in International Taxation. He is now a Summer Research Assistant at GULC. During his time in DC, Juan Manuel was highly involved in the law school community. He served as a President of the LL.M Tax Council and he was an active member of the school rugby team. Juan Manuel spent the spring doing an externship at KPMG LLP in its national office located in Washington, DC. In his spare time, he can be found working out, playing soccer, or play the guitar.
Sam Ezgar - GSC 806
I am from the Bay Area in California. I attended The Evergreen State College in Washington State for undergrad. I then served as a Health Volunteer in Peace Corps Zambia for two years. I'm now a rising 2L at Georgetown. I love yoga and herbal tea.
Grace Figueroa - GSC 806
Grace was born and raised in Venezuela and moved to Orlando, Florida at age 10. She is a proud Florida Gator, graduating from the University of Florida in 2016 with a B.A. in Political Science and International Studies. She is a rising 2L at Georgetown Law and is still very much unsure of what her future career as an attorney will entail (but most likely some type of corporate practice). She is currently interning at the D.C. Superior Court, and loves her daily morning walk to work, even in scorching 90 degree weather (still not as bad as Florida or Venezuela heat).
Grace loves the beach, but only the pretty ones with nice sand, little algae, no fish, and preferably open to dogs. Grace also loves dogs and all other furry creatures in this world. She also enjoys watching TV (all sorts).
Rachel Johns - GSC 1005
Rachel grew up in Edmonton, Canada. She graduated from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada in the spring of 2014 with a B.A. in Political Science. She is going into her 2ndyear at Georgetown Law. During her time at UBC, Rachel was involved on campus. She served as a President of Amnesty International UBC and worked on the film committee when Vancouver hosted the worldwide Model UN Conference. Rachel is spending her summer as a Research Intern with the law firm Banner &Witcoff. Banner &Witcoff specializesspecializes in the practice of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, and copyright law. She will be mainlyresearching and writing articles pertaining to video game and general IP law for their blog and microsite.
In her spare time, Rachel can be found going on walks, blending ice with her blender that doesn't really work for several minutes, generally following her mother's advice, getting her Pokémon Go to a level that is embarrassingly high, or being really bad at Zelda. Rachel also lived in Gewirz last year, so feel free to get in touch with her with any questions that you might have or if you want to talk to her about a program that you would like to see happen!
Shannon Shaffer - GSC 1005
Shannon was born and raised in Newbury Park, California, where she spent her time day-dreaming and night-hiking in the Santa Monica mountains. She graduated from the University of Southern California with B.A.s in Political Science and Philosophy and, therefore, no plausible way of getting hired. So after retreating to France for a while, she came back to the U.S. to attend Georgetown Law. \\nWhen she's not doing research for the Domestic Violence Clinic on-campus this summer, Shannon will be found people-watching and museum-geeking on the National Mall or distracting people from doing actual work at the Gewirz front desk, so come say hi!
