Information for Alumni Mentors
Program Overview
The Georgetown Law Alumni Mentor program was created to build relationships between Georgetown Law Alumni located in the DC Area and first year students. Alumni can be great resources for advice and inspiration relating to academic and career choices, balancing family and social life, and reflection on the law school experience based on their perspective. Alumni provide a voice of experience and offer a unique perspective on the law school experience and professional development.
Alumni Mentors have navigated career and personal development and choose to share their insight and support with JD students throughout their first year. The program pairs several alumni in different fields of practice with each first year section to provide informal mentoring. Programs are planned and hosted by the Peer Advisor Program, a group of 30 upper class students that mentor the first year students in small groups within each first year section.
Alumni Mentors enjoy reconnecting with Georgetown, visiting the campus occasionally, and talking with a first year students that are eager to hear about their experiences in law school and beyond.
