These instructions pertain to an Apple laptop (a Mac), not a Windows-based computer (a PC).

Updating a Mac is a two-step process. You must update the Apple operating system (OS) before running the Microsoft Word updates.

Step One - Installing Apple OS Updates

  1. Click on the Apple icon, located in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.
  2. Choose the Software Update option.
  3. Install all system updates.
  4. You must keep updating your machine until the Apple prompts tell you that there are no more updates available.
  5. Once the system updates are finished, you will need to install the Microsoft Word updates.

Step Two - Installing Microsoft Word Updates

  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. Click on the word Help in the Menu bar.
  3. Choose the Check for Updates option.
  4. Install all updates.
  5. You must keep updating your machine until the Apple prompts tell you that there are no more updates available.
