Second Round Bidding

Second-Round Bidding for EIW and GRIPS

Second-round bidding provides students with the opportunity to bid for open interview slots or to be added to an employer’s waitlist.  Please note that you are automatically on the waitlist for any firm that you bid for during the first-round of bidding and you may receive additional interviews after second-round bidding, even if you do not submit additional bids.

Frequently Asked Questions

I bid for a firm during the first-round and didn't get an interview - now there are open interview slots for that firm. Do I need to bid again?

  • You are currently on the waitlist for any employer for whom you bid during the initial EIW process but did not receive an interview. You do not need to bid for these employers again. When we re-run the scheduler at the close of second-round bidding, the system will first try to fill open slots with students from the waitlist, before moving on to students who submitted second-round bids.
  • If you wish to be removed from a firm's waitlist, please e-mail cancelinterview@law.georgetown.edu and include: your name; your NetID; your phone number; the name and city of the employer from whose waitlist you wish to be removed; and the date and time of the interview.

How do I bid for a firm in second-round bidding?

  • To submit second-round bids, simply click the Review button to the left of the firm name and select your next available bid from the drop down menu in the gray box in the upper right hand corner. For example, if you placed 75 bids during the first round of EIW, you may begin ranking second-round firms at 76. You may select as many firms as you are interested in. Please remember to also attach your resume to all new bids.

Which firms have open interview slots that I can bid for?

  • You can determine how many spots an employer has available by looking at their "Estimated Slots."
  • Employers are adding additional schedules and cities every day.  Before submitting your second-round bids, be sure and check the announcement screen on the Symplicity homepage for the latest changes, cancellations and additions.

What if a firm has zero “Estimated Slots”?  Can I bid for that firm in second-round bidding?

  • You may still place a bid for that firm and will be placed on the firm's waitlist.

When will I know the results of second-round bidding?

  • The results of second-round bidding will be available on Tuesday, August 19.

EIW Last-Minute Lottery

You can obtain additional “next-day” interviews with firms who have last-minute cancellations by attending our last-minute lottery sessions during EIW.  A list of firms with last-minute interview slots for the next day will be available each morning.  To participate, you must submit an index card (provided by OCS) in the designated drop box located in the Washington Court Hotel by 10:30am the day of the lottery.

For interviews on Monday, August 25, the box will be placed outside the ballroom where the EIW Orientation is taking place on Saturday, August 23 and you will have until noon to put your name in the box.

OCS staff members will create a randomized list of students and at 11:30am we will begin calling names in the order generated by the list.  Each time your name is called, you may select one open interview slot.  Please note that you must present OCS with a copy of your resume when selecting a last minute interview slot.  It is possible to secure more interviews, but we will continue to call names on the list in the order in which they were drawn, cycling through the list repeatedly until all openings are filled with available waitlisted students.

Please note:

  • You must be in attendance to claim an interview.  If you are in an interview during the session, join the session after your interview.
  • You cannot sign up for an additional interview at the same time as a previously scheduled interview.
  • You may not cancel interviews received through this process.
