Georgetown Law is located in the heart of the nation’s capital. As an institution, our Jesuit heritage leads us to an emphasis on jurisprudence, history, and ethics that extends beyond the traditional study of law. With this history and in this setting, we strive to develop outstanding student lawyers who will contribute to their communities while practicing law at the highest level.
Our student body is among the most talented and diverse in the nation:
- The undergraduate grade point averages and LSAT scores place these students in the top two percent of the entire U.S. law school applicant pool.
- For the entering class of 2008:
- The median LSAT was 170, the median GPA was 3.67.
- This year’s entering class has students from 45 states and 23 foreign countries, representing 218 different colleges and universities.
- This year, almost three-quarters (72%) of our Day students have taken some time off before coming to law school.
- Sixty-one students in the full-time and part-time divisions have advanced degrees; 13 have Ph.D.’s.
- Of the students matriculating, 49% were women and 29% were minority students.
The Law Center offers both full time (day division) and part time (evening division) programs leading to the degree of Juris Doctor. The same admission requirements and standards of performance apply in both day and evening divisions. Members of the full time faculty teach courses in both divisions accompanied by members of the adjunct faculty in certain specialized courses.
