Important reminders for the July 12th First Mailing Deadline. By July 12th students will need to:
- Email Kabara Korth Praskavich (kdk25) and Jennifer Lane (jel29) a list of recommenders, including faculty and external recommenders;
- Register for PAPER packet judges in Symplicity (no need to register for OSCAR judges, OSCAR judges are any federal judge who accepts online applications through the OSCAR system); and
- Have all letters of recommendation that Georgetown Law will be processing turned into Jennifer Lane (jel29).
What letters of recommendation will Georgetown Law process?
Georgetown Law will process all letters from full-time faculty members, and adjunct and visiting faculty when the recommendation is based on class participation (versus, for example, performance in an internship at their place of business). External letters will be processed on a case-by-case basis for non-profits or government agencies. Letters will not be processed for other law schools, or for-profit corporations (such as law firms).
For letters that will be processed by Georgetown, your recommender should send Jennifer Lane a Microsoft Word version of their letter. For external recommendations, the letter should also include an e-signature in the word document or attached to the same email, and your recommender should ensure their letter is on their organization’s letter head. If they do not want to provide a Word version of their e-signature or letter head, they can write a “Dear Judge” letter, scan it to PDF, and email it to Jennifer Lane who will print out the appropriate number of copies for your packets.
