Attention all 1L students!  OCS is very excited to announce the first in a series of two law firm receptions we are hosting to help you prepare for Early Interview Week (EIW).  On Wednesday, March 27 from 6-8 p.m. in the Sport & Fitness Lobby, attorneys from 25 law firms will be on-hand to meet with you and discuss their career paths, their practice areas and their employers over cocktails and hors d’ouvres.  Students who participate in EIW always ask for ways to differentiate between the hundreds of firms participating in the program – talking to the attorneys who work at these firms is the perfect way to find out which firms might be a good fit for you.  The following firms are participating in the March 27 reception...please click on the headline above for additional information.

Early Interview Week Information Sessions & Making the Most of Your Summer

The Office of Career Services will hold 15 information sessions that will address the specifics of participating in Georgetown Law's Early Interview Week (EIW) program.  You will receive an overview of the recruitment programs that we host and we will discuss how to think about making the most of your summer position in context of your overall career. 

In addition to learning about the resources to consult and strategies for constructing your bid list, you will learn about the nuts and bolts of the program itself, including how to obtain additional interviews, how to work a hospitality suite, and how to prepare for interviews.  If you plan to participate in EIW, attendance is essential and spacing for these sessions is limited to 25 students per session on a first come first served bases.   Please RSVP to only one of the 15 sessions by visiting the EVENTS tab on Symplicity.

Attention 1L/1E/2Es – Important Fall Recruitment Dates and Information

Early Interview Week (EIW) is Georgetown’s largest on-campus private sector interview program and it will be held at the Washington Court Hotel across the street from the Law Center. This year’s program will take place August 12-16, 2013, with a bidding deadline of July 17. We will have another on-campus interview program for small and mid-sized employers in September – the September Interview Program (SIP), which will take place in the Office of Career Services. Bidding for SIP starts on August 5.
 
The On Tour Interview Programs (regional programs) all take place prior to EIW and require students that participate to travel to the program cities for interviews. On Tour Interviews will be held in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco.
 
Along with the interview programs there will be two resume collect programs, Request for Resumes (RFR) and Diversity Resume Collect (DRC).  Resumes will be released to employers prior to Early Interview Week.

Bidding for these programs take place over the summer months, so Internet connectivity will be necessary. Please plan accordingly and take careful note of the bidding deadlines. Updates will continually be made via Hoya Headlines, Symplicity Announcements and the OCS website.

REMINDER: Callbacks for Public Service - Stay with family or friends and raise money for EJF!

The Callbacks for Public Service Program encourages students to consider staying with friends or family when traveling to callback interviews.  A student participating in the program will notify participating firms that they have decided to stay with a friend or relative instead of at a hotel during the callback interview.  In lieu of hotel expenses...click on the headline above for more information.

EIW FAQ - Should I send a thank you note to my on-campus EIW interviewer?

No.  Employers uniformly tell us that they do not want or expect thank you notes after on-campus screening interviews.  For screening interviews in a firm's office, a thank you note may be appropriate - check in with your counselor if you have any questions.

As a reminder, however, thank you notes are appropriate and strongly encouraged after callback interviews!
