FAQ - How do I "submit" my EIW bids?

When placing bids in Symplicity for EIW or any other recruitment program, there is no need to click a "Submit" button. Once you select a number from the Bids dropdown menu your bid will be saved. You may update your bids at any time until the bidding deadline - once the deadline has passed your bids will be locked and you will not be able to modify them.

FAQ - Does it matter how I rank my bids for Resume Collects?

No. For resume collections, it will not matter how your bids are ranked. The ranking feature exists because of an overall system setting and has no impact on your resume submissions. You do, however, still have to give each bid a ranking in order for Symplicity to recognize your bids. Employers will not see your rankings, they will only see your name and the documents you attach. 

3L FAQ – What clerkship deadlines are coming up soon?

This is the time for clerkship applicants to be researching judges, registering in Symplicity, and following up with recommenders to be certain that they have provided any information that would be helpful to the recommenders. 

Please keep in mind the below deadlines, and remember that applicants cannot add judges after June 22 (for students applying to state courts in advance of the first mailing or alumni applicants applying in advance of the first mailing) or July 12 (for students applying to federal courts and alumni who did not meet the pre-first mailing deadlines).

1L FAQ: Should I apply to law firm summer associate positions?

Many large law firms have “summer associate” programs that are designed to give students legal experience while providing firms an opportunity to evaluate students’ work before offering permanent employment following law school graduation.  As you may have heard, the majority of these programs hire only second-year students, even in a good economy.  However, every year a small number of firms will have limited spots for first-year students – in fact, just recently the AmLaw Daily featured an article entitled “Baker Botts Still Hunting for 1Ls.”

1L FAQ - How do I send an “unofficial” transcript to employers?

When an employer requests a transcript, it is appropriate to send an “unofficial” version unless the employer specifically requests an “official” copy.  You can create  a PDF version of your unofficial transcript through MyAccess.  Go to the Student tab, click on Student Records and then Academic transcript.  Select Law Center, and then select PDF and hit submit.    Another option is to request one official copy of your transcript from the Registrar and scan it or make photocopies.  For instructions on ordering an official transcript, please click here.
