Unlike large law firms, the majority of non-profit and government employers cannot predict their needs this early in the hiring cycle and will hire for summer and post-graduate positions throughout the year. That said, there are some specific public sector recruiting programs that take place in the late summer/early fall, so keep an eye on Hoya Headlines and your Georgetown email for details, and make an appointment with an OPICS counselor to discuss your individualized search for public sector opportunities.
One of the upcoming programs is the Government Interview Program (GIP), which will take place on September 15, with a few additional dates throughout the fall. GIP is a preselect interview programs that require cover letters and resumes, for paid summer internships and a limited number of post-graduate employment positions with federal, state, and local government agencies and public defenders’/prosecutors’ offices. Specific details and deadlines for GIP will be available on August 1.
