The Securities and Exchange Commission will accept 1L applications for the 2014 Summer Honors Intern Program from December 2, 2013 to February 3, 2014. The SEC will hire volunteer interns in Washington DC, New York, Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco. See the SEC Web page for information about the program. See the USAJobs site for details about how to apply.
The program is highly competitive. About 150 2Ls and 1Ls are hired from law schools around the country. The intern program provides students with responsibilities and experiences that promote their careers as lawyers and contribute to their future success in private practice, government agencies and other paths. Over the course of the ten-week program, students work with SEC staff on projects particular to the specific division or office to which they are hired. Further, students participate in seminars/workshops on various aspects of the federal securities laws.
Apply early because applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
