Break the Cycle, DC is seeking a legal and policy research fellow to join our team of energetic professionals committed to social change! Break the Cycle is a national nonprofit that works to empower youth and adults to end dating abuse and promote healthy relationships. Break the Cycle interns and fellows build skills that can be applied to careers in both the nonprofit and corporate sectors. We offer a casual, friendly work environment where interns and fellows are encouraged to contribute and learn. A stipend is available.
The Legal and Policy Research Fellow will support work of both the Training and Technical Assistance and Legal programs. They will be expected to:
Conduct legal research on dating abuse, mandatory child abuse reporting, confidentiality, and other related issues.
Update existing research and deliverables on legal and policy issues related to dating abuse.
Analyze existing laws and policies for their relevance to dating abuse and minor's access to services.
Support Break the Cycle staff in legal and policy research, including providing background research and copyediting.
Connect with relevant stakeholders on legal and policy questions, and coordinate with other departments of Break the Cycle to consider messaging and advocacy.
Assist the Training and Technical Assistance department in other legal and policy related needs as necessary.
