Career Exploration & Professional Development

At Georgetown Law, we help students identify and prepare for their future careers from the moment they step on campus to graduation day and beyond.

We have two dedicated offices focused solely on career development for J.D. students: the Office of Career Strategy (OCS), our general career center; and the Office of Public Interest and Community Service (OPICS), which focuses on public interest and government careers. The Office of Graduate Careers is among the few law school career centers in the country geared specifically toward LL.M. students.

With the breadth and depth of Georgetown Law’s academic curriculum, and our exceptional experiential learning programs, you can prepare for almost any career you imagine. From your earliest days here, our career centers are ready to help you discover your chosen path and pursue it. From career assessments, coaching and resume writing, to jobs fairs and networking events in the public and private sectors — we’re here to support your success. We want our students to not only land that first job after law school, but also be prepared to take the next steps toward a meaningful career.

Our alumni both offer and receive support

Georgetown Law’s large and distinguished alumni network is a big reason for our career placement success. We are constantly inviting alums back to campus to meet with and mentor our students. Our alumni are always major participants in Early Interview Week, our largest on-campus recruiting event for companies and law firms to meet with second-year students. We also provide a full slate of career services for alumni looking to move forward in their own careers.
