Reminder: Early Clerkship Mailing Deadline MONDAY, May 20

Rising 3Ls and soon-to-be-graduates,  please remember that Monday, May 20, at 5 pm is the deadline to turn in your application packets for the Ninth Clerkship Mailing at OCS.  This is your last chance to send paper applications to judges before the official Federal Law Clerk Hiring Plan date!

Because of the volume of applications received, all applications received after this date will be part of the First Mailing, which will arrive in judges’ chambers on Friday, June 28.  The deadline for the First Mailing is Monday, June 3.

Clerkship Surveys - Let us Know about your Interviews and Offers!

As you receive judicial clerkship interviews and offers, please remember to fill out the following forms, so that OCS can keep their statistics up-to-date and better serve you and your peers in the future.  All forms are available online here: http://www.law.georgetown.edu/careers/career-planning/fellowships-clerkships-honors/clerkships/application-process/surveys.cfm.

•    Interview Notification Form – Fill out this form when you receive an interview offer.  If you have received an offer to interview, but have declined that offer, we still want to know – just indicate “declined” in the interview date cell.  This form is available online here: http://apps.law.georgetown.edu/forms/form.cfm?FormID=242.

•    Clerkship Interview Survey – These forms are anonymous and are used by future interviewees to learn about any quirks or techniques they should be prepared for when interviewing with the same Judge.  If you would like to learn more about how your Judge interviews, these forms are located in the OCS office next to the Hearsay binders.  This form is available online here: http://apps.law.georgetown.edu/forms/form.cfm?FormID=594.

•    Clerkship Offer Survey – If you have been offered a clerkship (congratulations!), please fill out this form to let us know of your success, and to indicate your willingness to speak with future Georgetown students about clerking.  This form is available online here: http://apps.law.georgetown.edu/forms/form.cfm?FormID=243.

Hot Jobs: Pro Se Law Clerk, Southern District of New York

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York is seeking one full-time and one part-time law clerk for a two-year position in the Office of Pro Se Litigation.  The law clerks will serve the District and Magistrate Judges of the Court by reviewing initial pro se filings and drafting legal memoranda and proposed orders and decisions for the judges.  The docket includes a large number of prisoner filings (including civil rights actions and habeas petitions) plus a number of nonprisoner civil rights actions and employment discrimination cases.  For details and how to apply, please see Job ID# 28632 in Symplicity.

2Ls, come hear Judge Rudy Contreras, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, speak about judicial clerkships tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10, at noon.  Light refreshments will be served.  Seating is limited, so please visit the Events tab on Symplicity for additional information and to RSVP.  Judge Contreras has not yet hired for the 2014-2015 term, and is interested in speaking with students who wish to clerk in the District of Columbia, among others.
