Chambers Associate:  The Student’s Guide to Law Firms is a new resource published by Chambers & Partners that covers 100 selected top law firms.  The guide provides students with in-depth research on law firm practice areas, recruitment strategies, pro bono activities, and firm culture, and will be a valuable resource as you prepare for fall recruiting, particularly for those of you participating in Early Interview Week.  Please stop by OCS at anytime during business hours to pick up your free copy.  We will also be distributing the books during June and July counseling appointments.  In addition, you can visit the Chambers Associate website at http://www.chambers-associate.com/.

IFLR 1000 - The Guide to the World’s Leading Financial Law Firms

OCS just received a copy of the 2010 edition of the IFLR 1000 – The Guide to the World’s Leading Financial Law Firms.  This guide includes rankings and analysis of leading international law firms in the corporate finance arena.  The rankings are based on the recommendations of in-house counsel at prominent financial institutions, as well as leading lawyers, attorneys and solicitors in the various geographic markets.  Please stop by OCS during business hours to review the IFLR 1000.  

You can also check out their website at http://www.iflr1000.com/.  The website allows you to search for firms by region and country, and is a great resource for anyone interested in working abroad in the private sector.   

New OCS Library Book - "Best Friends at the Bar"

Best Friends at the Bar: What Women Need to Know about a Career in the Law was written by Georgetown Law alumna Susan Smith Blakely. The book is "meant to assist women preparing for the profession to enable them to begin their legal careers with open eyes and with more of a level playing field than women lawyers of prior generations." Blakely focuses mainly on large law firm practice, and she provides useful advice from attorneys, judges, law school career counselors, and law firm managing partners.
