Over the next couple of weeks, OCS will be rolling out several listings of regional law firms that they are hosting receptions in their offices during the winter break. The purpose of these receptions is for the law firms to introduce themselves and get to know you for the future - it does not necessarily mean they intend to hire any 1Ls for their 2011 summer class, though that is always a possibility. You should view these receptions as networking opportunities, and take advantage of any that are of interest to you.
In addition, if over the winter break you will be in any area of the country in which you are interested in working during the summer or following graduation, we encourage you to do some individual outreach to employers in that region while you are there. This is an effective job search strategy whether you are interested in private or public sector employers, or if you are interested in learning more about a particular practice area. If you have any questions on how best to do this, we encourage you to consult with an OCS or OPICS advisor at your convenience.
