OCS Counselors Attending NALP Conference

All of the regular OCS counselors, as well as some of the staff, will be attending the annual NALP Conference from Tuesday, April 27 through Friday, April 30.  The NALP conference is an excellent opportunity for OCS counselors to meet with law firm representatives from across the country on your behalf, and is the premiere professional development opportunity for counselors.

The OCS office will be open Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm next week, and there will be counselors available in OPICS for in-person advising.  Counselors will be checking e-mail and voicemail daily while at the conference.  Please plan to talk to us this week if you think you may have any questions while we are gone! 

Networking While in Law School

The key to success in law school is doing well academically.  There is no substitute for good grades.  However, there is another aspect of career building that many students ignore at their own peril – networking.  Many people believe that networking only begins after one has started his or her own career, and that such networking can lead to greater responsibilities at the current job, stronger relationships with colleagues and clients and, eventually, to a better job at another venue.  All this may be true, but students should never underestimate the value of networking while in law school.

GEMA presents: “The Digital Media Revolution” - Friday, April 30th

Join the Georgetown Entertainment & Media Alliance (GEMA) on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 2:30-4:00pm at the Fairmont Hotel (2401 M Street, NW).  GEMA has agreed to waive the $20 fee for any interested law students, but you must RSVP to GEMALaw@law.georgetown.edu by Wednesday, April 28th at 5pm to get the fee waiver.
