Public Sector Recruiting Program Interviewer/Table Talk Contacts

Beginning tomorrow, February 1, the contact information for PSRP interviewers and Table Talk representatives will be available in OPICS (room 212).    We recommend that students follow up an interview with a thank you email, or a formal application (resume/cover letter) if you haven’t already applied to the Table Talk representatives. 

1L FAQ: Should I apply to law firm summer associate positions?

Many large law firms have “summer associate” programs that are designed to give students legal experience while providing firms an opportunity to evaluate students’ work before offering permanent employment following law school graduation.  As you may have heard, the majority of these programs hire only second-year students, even in a good economy.  However, every year a small number of firms will have limited spots for first-year students – in fact, just recently the AmLaw Daily featured an article entitled “Baker Botts Still Hunting for 1Ls.” 

If you are interested in working as a summer associate as a 1L/1E/2E, it may be worthwhile to apply if you have one or more of the following attributes:

Don't miss the State Court Clerkship Meet and Greet - an informative and engaging meet and greet with graduates who have or are currently clerking with judges on the DC Superior Court, DC Court of Appeals, and Maryland circuit courts.  The event will be held on February 8th at 6pm in Hotung 2001 (Faculty Dining Room).  This is your chance to ask questions about how to navigate the clerkship application process, what trial and appellate clerkships are like, and the many interesting career paths to which they lead. Public Sector Internship Interview Preparation

It’s that time of year when law students seeking public sector internships and prospective employers set up in-person and phone interviews to exchange information. Whether you are interviewing this weekend at the PSRP or are scheduling interviews outside the Program, it is always recommended that you take some time to do your homework on the employer and the internship, reflect on the image and message you want to convey and be prepared to ask some questions at the interview.
