Please join us for an engaging and informative panel on choosing criminal defense as a career, and hear from the following panelists:
Prof. Abbe Smith, Professor of Law; Director, Criminal Defense and Prisoner Advocacy Clinic - moderator
Prof. Adam Thurschwell, Visiting Professor of Law at Georgetown Law, and
General Counsel in the Office of the Chief Defense Counsel - Military Commissions

W. Michael Chick, Deputy Capital Defender, Northern Virginia Capital Defender Office
Jennifer Thomas, Legal Recruiting Manager, Public Defender Service of DC
The speakers will discuss their decisions to work in the criminal defense field and will address the daily realities and challenges of defending clients in an adversarial criminal justice system. The panelists will also discuss steps for students to take who are interested in this field, with ample question and answer time.
