Weekly Update: Government Recruitment Programs

Welcome to the Government Recruitment Program's weekly blog post! We will provide information about public sector recruitment programs which include the Government Interview Program (GIP), the Government Resume Collect Program, and the Spotlight on Government Information Fair, here on a weekly basis.

Please keep in mind that you are required to submit a cover letter along with your resume for all public sector recruitment programs. If you need assistance with editing your cover letter, please feel free to contact us at opics@law.georgetown.edu to set up a counseling appointment.

Reminder! Deadline to sign up for Mock Interview Program

Each year OCS sponsors a mock interview program to assist students with developing and practicing interview skills. Alumni and volunteer attorneys from large law firms in a variety of geographic locations interview students and provide them with critical feedback on their interview performance. Interviews will be conducted in the volunteer attorneys' offices. This opportunity is invaluable to students who may be nervous about the interview process or have concerns about their interview skills.

The Mock Interview Program registration deadline is Friday, July 1, 2011. Click here to sign up.

We encourage students to sign up as soon as possible as matches are made on a first-come, first-served basis. This is a popular program and, while OCS makes every effort to match every student who signs up with an attorney, we cannot guarantee that every student will be matched. If you are matched, you will receive contact information for your interviewer on Friday, July 8, 2011. After July 9, matches will be handled on a case by case basis.

New 2011-2012 Americorps Legal Fellowships Just Announced!

Government Interview Program (Session I) Opens Tomorrow, 6/24

GIP Session I

The list of employers participating in the “2011 Government Interview Program (Session I)” will be available on Symplicity tomorrow, June 24th.  Please review the GIP Instructions PDF before accessing Symplicity.  GIP procedures and policies are unique and different from EIW procedures.  Please keep in mind that there are three GIP sessions with different government employers in each session, as well as several other government recruiting programs scheduled throughout the academic year.
