Reminder - 2012 Loyola Patent Law Interview Program - Deadline to Register is March 5

Loyola University Chicago School of law is hosting the 2012 Patent Law Interview Program on Thursday, August 2 and Friday, August 3 in Chicago, Illinois.  This is a nationwide interview program that targets patent law employers, rising 2L and 3L students, and students in Intellectual Property LLM programs.

OCS Hours Tomorrow and during Spring Break

During Spring Break (March 5-9), OCS will be open 9am-5pm. There will be no regularly scheduled walk-in hours.  To make an appointment, please call 202-662-9300 or use Appointment Plus.

OCS will also close at 5pm tomorrow, Thursday, March 1, for a special event.  Evening hours will resume on Thursday, March 15. 

Summer Funding News: $5000 Summer Stipend through the Hispanic Bar Association for legal services internships in Metro DC.

Hispanic  Bar Association of the District of Columbia Summer Fellowship

First year and second year students attending accredited law schools in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area are eligible to apply for an HBA-DC Foundation Fellowship. One or more fellowships in the amount of $5,000 may be awarded by the Foundation. 

The sponsoring entity must be: (1) a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization; (2) located in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area; (3) providing direct legal services to persons in the D.C. metro area; and (4) at low cost or no cost to the clients. Preference will be given to students working with organizations serving the D.C. Latino community among the client base.

Hot Job! Paid Summer Law Clerk - In-House at Amtrak

Amtrak is seeking 1L and 2L candidates for a paid Summer 2012 Law Clerk position. Law Clerks report to the Deputy General Counsel and Solicitor General, Litigation but have the opportunity to work with attorneys across all of the Law Department’s practice groups.  Amtrak’s Law Department practice includes federal and state court litigation, administrative litigation, arbitration proceedings, drafting contracts, developing legal corporate guidelines and advising corporate clients.  Principal practice areas include labor and employment, litigation, commercial contracts, intellectual property, compliance with federal/state laws and regulations (environmental, transportation, etc.), real estate transactions, and torts.

Law clerks are expected to work full-time during the 2012 summer and part-time during the 2012-2013 school year (15-20 hours per week).  To apply, please submit a resume, cover letter and writing sample online via Symplicity (job posting ID#: 24024) by March 17th.
