Panel and Reception for Female Law Students in NYC

The Steering Committee of The Kate Stoneman Project (KSP) invites rising second year female law students for a reception and panel discussion focused on the benefits of practicing in New York City firms. 

KSP was founded by 20 women partners representing 10 leading law firms headquartered in Manhattan. KSP seeks to provide a forum to address issues of common concern relating to the advancement of women in the profession, as well as a platform to leverage the collective strength of the women partners in our firms to advance our leadership in professional, civic, educational and charitable endeavors.

This event will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 in the offices of Cleary Gottlieb, One Liberty Plaza, New York, NY 10006, 39th Floor.   The panel discussion begins at 6:00pm with the reception to follow.  Please RSVP to Christina Sauerborn at csauerborn@cgsh.com.

Washington Council of Lawyers Summer Pro Bono & Public Interest Forum -- 6/12

The Washington Council of Lawyers annual Summer Pro Bono & Public Interest Forum will be held on Tuesday, June 12, from noon - 2:30 pm at Arnold & Porter LLP, featuring The Honorable Ricardo M. Urbina as the keynote speaker.   The Summer Forum is designed to expose law student summer interns & summer associates to the vibrant pro bono and public interest community in DC.

Break-out panels include:

Civil Rights/Civil Liberties

 Immigration/Human Rights

 Criminal Law/Death Penalty

Representation of Families and Children

Non-Litigation Practice of Law

The cost is $25 per person for public interest/government interns and $60 for summer associates.

Recent Judicial Confirmations

The Senate recently confirmed Paul Watford to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  Judge Watford previously clerked for Judge Kozinski on the Ninth Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.  He served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Central District of California and has extensive experience in private practice, most recently at Munger, Tolles & Olson in Los Angeles.
