More than 15 judges on the DC Superior Court are still taking applications to hire for the 2013-2014 term, beginning this fall. The salary starts at $56,857 (or higher), and DC Bar is not required. The SMART Leadership Program is an experience that demonstrates
the vast value and flexibility offered by a law degree. This experience
will develop students’ legal writing skills but also hone their
business acumen. While many of these involve a non-traditional
experience for law students, it has been our experience that therein
lies the value!
Although the SMART Leadership Program is not a “traditional legal
internship” there are a myriad of opportunities to work on legal
projects involving policy revision, development of standard operating
procedures, statutory and regulatory amendments, research and evaluation
of best practices for contracting and procurement and audit procedures.
This unique opportunity will give great insight on how a legal
background can really work in a corporate environment.
