Hot Job: Part-time externship opportunity with the FBI Office of General Counsel, Fall 2013.

The FBI General Counsel's Office seeks a Georgetown Law student for a one semester, part-time (20 hours per week), unpaid externship position. The extern's placement will depend on his or her interests; potential areas of focus include national security law, criminal law, science and technology law, including possible work with OGC’s Cyber Task Force, telecom law, appropriations law, and more. The type of work the extern will perform will depend on which section he or she is placed with, but will involve research, memos, email advice, reviewing agreements, and more.

The position requires a background check and a security clearance. The position is only open to U.S. citizens.

Upcoming Post-Grad Public Interest Fellowship Information Sessions for rising 3Ls

With March in the air, the career teams in both OPICS and OCS are gearing up to prepare rising 2Ls and 3Ls for the upcoming recruiting cycle.  To that end, OPICS is sponsoring a number of March/April information programs for rising 3Ls on Post-Graduate Fellowships.

Collectively, fellowships provide some of the best entry-level opportunities to launch a public interest career. By definition, fellowships are short-term, full-time public interest positions for new or recent law graduates. Most are offered for one or two year periods, beginning the September after graduation or after the conclusion of a judicial clerkship. Fellowship settings include non-profit organizations, government agencies, law firms and academic settings; some fellowships, including the Skadden and Equal Justice Works Fellowships, are “project based,” where the fellows create their own projects for a non-profit organization, whereas other fellowships are for predetermined positions.

Summer Opportunity at the O'Neill Institute on National & Global Health Initiative (EJF Funding Required)

The O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law is looking for an interested J.D. student who is seeking summer 2013 Equal Justice Foundation funding to work through the O'Neill Institute on an ambitious initiative to address global and national health inequities, the Joint Action and Learning Initiative on National and Global Health Responsibilities (JALI). JALI is a global coalition of civil society and academics that has proposed a global health treaty, a Framework Convention on Global Health (FCGH), which would be grounded in the right to health and aimed at closing health inequities around the world. This bold vision of has potential to catalyzes changes in the global health system that would dramatic transform global health and advance global health justice, and empower communities to claim the right to health domestically and internationally. Reminder:  The application for the 2013 Stabile Fellowship in the Regulation of Personal Care and Related Consumer Products is Friday, March 1.
 
The annual fellowship will offer a recent Georgetown Law graduate the opportunity to work for one year with the Environmental Working Group on cutting edge issues in the regulation of personal care products, cosmetics, over-the-counter drugs, related consumer products and toxic chemicals, as well as a wide array of in-house legal issues such as nonprofit-tax and employment law.  The fellowship is open to Georgetown JD students graduating in 2013 and recent JD graduates completing a clerkship in 2013.
