Whitman Walker Legal Clinic
Pro Bono Opportunity –Monday, September 8, 2014
Whitman-Walker Health, a nonprofit health center that specializes in HIV- and LGBT-related care, has a legal services program that serves hundreds of clients a year. On Monday, September 8, from 10am to 3pm, Whitman Walker will be hosting a walk-in legal clinic to complete healthcare powers of attorney for patients at its Southeast DC location (the Max Robinson Center, a few blocks from the Anacostia metro stop).
Whitman Walker is looking for law students to volunteer either from 9:45am to 12:45pm or from 12:30pm to 3:30pm (although times are flexible). Volunteers will help with intake and logistics, as well as –importantly –serve as witnesses on the documents, which cannot be done by medical center staff. Volunteers will be working hands-on with clients under the supervision of attorneys. Interested students should contact Corey Prachniak at firstname.lastname@example.org.
