Law students

Law students apply to join the Harrison Institute’s policy clinic in the spring before their year in the clinic. It is a two-semester clinic that awards 14 credits, seven in the fall and seven in the spring. It is open to students in their second or third year; you need to have 28 credits by the time you start in the clinic.

• Applications. To apply, you must submit (a) a general clinic application and (b) a supplemental application for the policy clinic along with your resume and a statement of interest. The forms and April deadlines are part of an information package on the web page for clinical programs.
• General information. In April, the Law Center distributes a guide to all clinical programs, convenes a briefing on the application process, and hosts a reception where students can meet faculty and students from each clinic.
• Policy clinic information. We encourage you to attend one of several information sessions with the policy clinic faculty (times are included in the guide to all clinical programs) or email us for an appointment (see faculty links). In addition, the link to our short video overview appears below.
• Selection criteria. Our main criterion is student interest in public policy and our clients or project topics, which you can express to us based on work or academic experience, career plans, and personal values. We also favor students who are proficient in Spanish.

Post-graduate fellows

Law school graduates may apply for a fellowship to work as a colleague and student supervisor in the spring before fellowships start in late summer. Fellows work for two years and receive an LLM degree. Our fellowships are dedicated to either our health team or our trade team. Fellowship openings depend upon the two-year rotation cycle and whether we have sufficient external funding upon which our fellowships depend.

• Applications. To apply, you must submit a letter of interest and your resume to Prof. Robert Stumberg before March 1st.
• General information. The Law Center distributes a guide to post-graduate fellowships, which is available on the web page for clinical programs.
• Selection criteria. We look for post-graduate work experience in either health policy or trade policy, depending on the team with an open position. We also favor experience in the public sector and proficiency in Spanish.
