J.D. Seminar 179
| 2 credit hours
This seminar will use film as a lens through which to critically assess our conceptions of law, legal constructs and the limitations of legal language. Students will view a provocative collection of films, including the works of Krzysztof Kieslowski, Spike Lee, Akira Kurosawa, Woody Allen and Frederick Wiseman. Race theory, abortion, the insanity defense, capital punishment and the law's elusive search for truth are among the topics that will be explored. Students should expect to prepare for and participate in weekly class discussions. A 25-30 page paper will be required.
