This seminar will examine the rapidly developing field of governance “best practices” for non-profit organizations. Recent reforms at the American Red Cross, Smithsonian Institution, Girl Scouts, American University and other leading non-profit organizations will be discussed as will the impact of government legislation and tax policies. Guest speaker participants will include leading governance experts who have led recent reform studies for non-profit organizations. Grading will be based on a 10 page final paper on an approved topic and class participation.
