    This seminar is intended for students interested in preparing a research paper on a topic related to refugees and humanitarian emergencies. For the first part of the semester, we will read leading scholarship on forced migration and humanitarian crises to provide a theoretical background for the research papers. Readings on the legal framework for responding to forced migration, as well as on the international system set up to respond to humanitarian crises, will be included. In the second part of the semester, students will present their key findings and recommendations to the class. The professor will help students formulate research projects and provide support in basic research tools. Research can focus on all types of forced migrants, including the internally displaced and victims of trafficking.
