Equal Justice Foundation

Equal Justice Foundation is an entirely student run organization that was started in 1986. The goal of the organization was, and continues to be, providing summer funding for students who would otherwise be unable to engage in public interest work. Twenty-one years later, our mission remains the same: funding Georgetown students working in unpaid public interest positions for the summer.

That first year, EJF raised enough money to fund three fellowships of $800 each. Last year, for the first time in your twenty-year history, EJF provided a fellowship to every law student working in public interest pro bono for the summer.  This year, we had  60 more students apply than last year, and we are really worried they won't get funded.  That is where you come in!  Please donate.

So What is This About?

Fellows who work a full (400 hour) summer in an unpaid, public interest position are eligible for a grant of up to $3,250. Employers verify the hours worked by the fellows, and recipients also commit 20 volunteer hours to foundation fundraising.

Participation

We use every cent we raise toward funding fellowships. Fellows raise donations through a silent auction, a live auction, and the generous donations of alumni, friends, family, law firms, and corporations nationwide. The number of fellowships awarded depends entirely on the amount EJF raises during the current fiscal year.
