Guest Lecturers
On occasion, when a compelling reason necessitates your absence from class, substitute professors may be brought in to teach a class. Such arrangements should be rare and, in every case, should be brought to the attention of Sarah Hulsey (JD courses) or John Stephens (LL.M. courses) as far in advance of the class as possible. When substitutions are not members of our existing adjunct faculty, such as partners or associates in an adjunct professor's firm, we must be made aware of the substitute selection. Guest Speakers Although carefully-chosen outside speakers can be a useful tool in teaching your class, the deans request that you not make excessive use of such speakers. The students will not be pleased with too many war stories. In addition, they think most highly of a professor who develops an intellectual relationship with them. Co-Teachers Several members of our adjunct faculty have developed successful teaching relationships with one or more co-teachers. If you are thinking of adding a co-teacher to your course, please contact Sarah Hulsey (JD courses) or John Stephens (LL.M. courses). Building Access and Parking for Substitute Professors and Guest Speakers Substitute professors and guest speakers who are not members of the Georgetown faculty are required to sign in and obtain a daily guest pass at the security desk at the Second Street entrance, located on the second floor of McDonough Hall. If your substitute professor or guest speaker requires parking, please contact Mariko Cool (J.D. Program) at (202) 662-9678 or John Stephens (LL.M. Program) at (202) 662-9116 as far in advance as possible with the person’s name, the date and time that he or she will be arriving at the Law Center, and the make, model, color, and license plate of your guest's vehicle. Mariko or John will then make the necessary arrangements with the Parking Office. Revised April 23, 2008 (MC) |
