Kennisha Austin is the Director of Georgetown University Law Center's J.D. Externship Program, and an adjunct professor of law.  

Prior to becoming a senior administrator at the Law Center, Professor Austin was the Director of Due Process and Parent Response at Baltimore City Public Schools, managing a 16-person department responsible for ensuring district-wide compliance with state and federal special education law.

Professor Austin previously worked in academia as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Hofstra University School of Law, teaching Civil Procedure I and II. She was also on the faculty at Fordham Law School as a Clinical Teaching Fellow, where she co-directed the Externship Program, and taught Fundamental Lawyering Skills and several externship seminars.

Before entering academia, Professor Austin was a practicing attorney in New York City, specializing in civil rights law at Emery Celli Brinckerhoff &Abady LLP.

After law school, Professor Austin clerked for the Honorable Damon J. Keith on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Professor Austin received her B.A. in Psychology and African-American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her J.D. from Columbia Law School.
