Walter W. Bardenwerper

B.A. with Honors in Economics, University of Virginia, Phi Beta Kappa; J.D., University of Virginia School of Law. Law Clerk for Hon. Albert W. Coffrin, United States District Judge for the District of Vermont. Mr. Bardenwerper is Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Towers Watson, a publicly-held global professional consulting firm, a position he has held since 1987. At Towers Watson he manages a legal department with attorneys in the U.S., U.K, Germany, Netherlands, Hong Kong and South Africa. In 2000, he led the legal team in the company’s IPO after 55 years as a private firm; in 2005 he managed the legal team in a $500 million merger with a 120 year-old British partnership, R. Watson & Sons, and last year managed the $3.2 billion merger with competitor Towers Perrin. He served on the Board of Directors and on the Executive and Finance Committees of the company during its pre-IPO period. He is a director of Professional Consultants Insurance Company, and a past director of the Association of Management Consulting Firms. Mr. Bardenwerper previously was an attorney with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft and Assistant General Counsel of Satellite Business Systems. He is a member of the District of Columbia, Vermont, Kentucky, and Virginia bars, as well as the American Corporate Counsel Association.
