B.A., Phi Beta Kappa, Dickinson; J.D., University of Chicago. Professor Berman is a partner at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP and is a corporate partner and member of the firm’s Investment Management Group. He counsels financial services companies and other clients on a wide range of transactions, regulatory and mutual fund governance matters. He previously worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission in the Division of Investment Management as Assistant Director of the Office of Regulatory Policy and then as Associate Director of the Division. While serving as Associate Director, he oversaw the division offices responsible for processing applications for exemptive relief under the Investment Company Act and administering the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935.
