Professor Mark A. Cohen is the CEO of Legalmosaic (www.legalmosaic.com), a legal business consulting company. He is widely regarded as a global thought leader in the legal vertical.

Professor Cohen has published approximately 150 articles on legal delivery. He is a regular online contributor to Forbes where he writes a weekly column. His articles and commentary have also appeared frequently in Bloomberg Big Law Business, the ABA Journal, Law 360, and many other domestic and international media outlets. His work has a global following and has been featured in the ACC Docket, Stanford Law's CodeX, The Canadian Bar Magazine, Legal Business World, and numerous other sources. He is the author of "Legal Mosaic: Essays in Legal Delivery." Professor Cohen's essay, "Corporate Counsel: Consumer Becomes Provider" is one of two non-Chinese authored chapters in "China Corporate Legal Affair Observer (third edition). Professor Cohen has been a keynote speaker at Harvard Law School's Speaker Series, University College London, Reinvent Law, 3M's Global Legal Alignment Summit, LegalZoom, and countless industry conferences and symposia. This Spring, he will deliver the keynote address at the German Bar Association. He has been interviewed by numerous media outlets and academic institutions including the University of St. Gallen global thought leader interviews and Legal Business World.

Professor Cohen was named a 2016 FastCase 50 recipient as one of "law's most courageous innovators, techies, visionaries and leaders."

Prior to founding Legalmosaic, Professor Cohen was Co-Founder of Clearspire (www.clearspire.com), a groundbreaking legal service provider whose disruptive, proprietary IT platform and reengineered legal model has been reported in The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, The ABA Journal, Reuters, and a host of other sources. He serves as the Managing Director of Clearspire Law Company, overseeing all matters related to the practice of law.

Professor Cohen had a distinguished 30-year legal career prior to Clearspire, serving as an award-winning Assistant United States Attorney (Southern District of Florida, Civil Division);the youngest partner in what was then the nation's largest law firm, Finley Kumble;and as founder and managing partner of a national litigation boutique firm, Mark A. Cohen &Associates. He was a nationally recognized civil trial lawyer who tried 57 major civil cases during his career as well as numerous appeals, mediations, and arbitrations. Professor Cohen personally represented more than 50 of the Fortune 500 companies as well as five foreign sovereign nations in a wide array of litigation matters including numerous class actions, multi-district litigation cases, as well as mass torts.

Professor Cohen was appointed by U.S. District Court Judge Richard Owen (S.D.N.Y.) to serve as Receiver of FBA, a global aviation parts company. During his 10-year Receivership, Professor Cohen managed the global operations of the company, including its legal matters, throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America. His efforts resulted in the repatriation of $100M in assets.

Professor Cohen also served as outside general counsel for three insurance companies during his years in private practice. He has the unusual qualification of being a high-level provider, manager, and consumer of legal services both domestically and internationally. Professor Cohen was a large-scale, early adopter of information technology in the delivery of legal services. Twenty-five years ago, he commissioned his client, AT&T, to create and deploy an IT platform for his multi-city law firm that included an electronic law library accessible to all attorneys from their desktop computers, videoconferencing, and a then state-of-the art data retrieval system. He was an early proponent of "flex-time" as well as fixed-price billing and worked closely with several F500 companies to streamline litigation portfolio management. Professor Cohen was also an early participant in legal process outsourcing ("LPO"), managing large-scale document review and e-discovery projects conducted in India and the Caribbean.

Professor Cohen is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Vassar College and the College's first Rhodes Scholar Nominee. He earned three postgraduate degrees from Oxford University (law and anthropology), and a law degree from the University of Connecticut where he served as a law clerk throughout his law school years.
