In 2008 Professor Corcoran founded Align International LLC, a regulatory consultancy on financial regulation to public and private sector entities. For most of her career, Ms. Corcoran held director level positions at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission: Office of International Affairs (OIA: 1997 to 2006) and Trading and Markets (1982-1997). OIA recommended policies toward the international financial market, issued reports on matters of interest to the global financial and regulatory communities, participated in international standard setting and cross border crisis management exercises and organized training and technical assistance for the international regulatory community. Professor Corcoran also represented the CFTC within the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) where she chaired the Implementation Task Force which developed the first "Assessment Methodology" (2003) intended to measure IOSCO Members' implementation of the Objectives and Principles of Securities Regulation. She also was a member of the Market Participants Panel for the Committee of European Securities Regulators which was succeeded recently by the European Securities Markets Authority. Professor Corcoran received two Presidential Distinguished Executive Rank Awards (under Presidents Reagan and Clinton, respectively) in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments and contributions at the CFTC in regard to the 1987 Market Crash and the collapse of Barings bank. She currently serves on the Toronto Centre Securities Advisory Board, and as a senior fellow of the Heyman Corporate Governance Center at Benjamin V. Cardozo, School of Law. Professor Corcoran is the author of numerous publications on listed derivatives markets, regulation of the U.S. financial markets, bankruptcy, and risk management, acts as a securities expert on financial sector assessments under the IMF/WB FSAP Program, has served as an independent director of a futures exchange, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
