Professor Fredericks is currently the Assistant General Counsel for Administration in the united States Department of Commerce. In that position she is the senior career advisor to all employees in the department on a number of issues including ethics. Her office runs the ethics training and financial disclosure programs required by federal law and regulation. Professor Fredericks has personally participated and directed her staff in their participation in many programs sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development in helping countries throughout the world establish systems of ethical conduct. She has been a frequent speaker on behalf of the United States Office of Government Ethics at their conferences and their representative in front of groups interested in corporate ethics. She has also been asked to address ethics by various foreign governments and foreign press organizations. Prior to her position at Commerce, Professor Fredricks served as Assistant General Counsel at the United State Department of the Treasury. Previous to that position she practiced labor law and litigation at a number of agencies.
