David Fredrickson has been Chief Counsel and Associate Director of the Division of Corporation Finance at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since March 2014. He oversees the work of the Division's Office of Chief Counsel and Office of Capital Markets Trends and is responsible for providing legal and policy advice. Mr. Fredrickson previously served as an Assistant General Counsel of the SEC from 1998 to 2014, advising the Division and the Commission on implementation of numerous rulemakings, including rules to implement the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, and the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act. Before joining the Office of General Counsel in 1997, Mr. Fredrickson spent three years as an enforcement attorney in the SEC’s San Francisco Regional Office. Prior to that, he spent eight years in private law practice, where he specialized in commercial and civil litigation. Mr. Fredrickson received a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1982 and a law degree from Georgetown University in 1986.
