B.A. magna cum laude, Denison University; J.D. cum laude, George Washington. Professor Gere is an Assistant Deputy Attorney General with the District of Columbia Attorney General’s Office, where she supervises civil litigation brought against the City. Professor Gere previously was a partner at Ross Dixon & Bell, LLP (and Troutman Sanders, LLP, following a merger of firms) for almost 25 years, where she specialized in litigation with emphasis on civil rights, employment litigation, professional liability defense, ethics, and insurance coverage. She previously served as senior trial counsel to the Civil Division of the Department of Justice and Chief of the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Ohio. Professor Gere taught at the Attorney General's Advocacy Institute from 1981-87. She was a law clerk to Judge June L. Green of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Professor Gere is a member of the American Bar Foundation and the District Court’s Lawyer Counseling Panel. She served as a member of the District of Columbia Committee on Bar Admissions and as a Hearing Committee member of the District of Columbia Board on Professional Responsibility.
