Klaus Hoffmann-Holland is Vice President of Freie University Berlin, University Professor (chair of Criminology and Criminal Law) and spokesperson of the German-Israeli post-graduate research group "Human Rights under Pressure – Ethics, Law, and Politics". He received his law degrees from Justus-Liebig Universität Gießen (Dr. iur. 2000; Dr. iur. habil. 2005, venia legendi criminology, criminal law, juvenile justice and corrections). In 2005 he was awarded the Dr.-Herbert-Stolzenberg-Award for jurisprudence. Prior to his appointment in Berlin, he served as a public prosecutor and as a judge in Rhineland-Palatinate. In 2013 he was appointed as a presiding judge at the State Court (Landgericht) Berlin. He taught at University of Gießen, the University of Warwick (2006), the Center for Transnational Legal Studies, London (2009), the École normale superieure Paris (2011), Johannes Kepler University Linz (2012), Université de Strasbourg (2013) and Danube University Krems (2014). He served as a visiting professor in the Faculty of Law of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2010), at the Nihon University, College of Law, in Tokyo (2010) and as an adjunct professor for the Georgetown Summer Law Program in London since 2010.
