Continue ReadingB.A., with honors, University of California, Santa Barbara; J.D., cum laude, Harvard. Professor Jones is Vice President & General Counsel of the Washington Nationals Baseball Club. He is responsible for all legal affairs of the Club. Professor Jones has handled hundreds of business contracts, including major corporate sponsorship agreements; food and beverage concession agreements; merchandising agreements; major concert and other event agreements; broadcasting agreements; luxury suite and club seat license agreements; and facilities management agreements. He has also handled hundreds of baseball player contracts and serves as lead counsel in the Club's baseball salary arbitration cases. Professor Jones also handles litigation matters, investigations, employment matters, labor issues arising from the Major League Baseball collective bargaining agreement, business labor union issues, intellectual property issues, and any other legal issues facing the Club. He also represents the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, including working with the District of Columbia to construct, lease, operate, and maintain a Youth Baseball Academy to promote participation in baseball and academic achievement among inner city youth. Prior to joining the Nationals, Professor Jones practiced at the law firm of Williams & Connolly, where his practice included transactional and general business representation of high profile, high character, business-savvy MLB, NBA, and WNBA players, as well as complex litigation. His transactional work included handling player contracts, endorsement deals, business contracts, grievances, and other legal matters for clients such as Rickie Weeks, Chris Young, Melvin Mora, Grant Hill, Tim Duncan, Shane Battier, Chamique Holdsclaw, Nikki McCray, Tamika Catchings, and many others. Prior to joining Williams & Connolly, Professor Jones served as a law clerk to the Honorable Roger L. Gregory of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; practiced law at the Century City entertainment law firm Greenberg Glusker; served as in-house counsel to a Los Angeles-based sports agency which represented dozens of Major League players, including numerous All-Stars; and served as a California State Senate Fellow.
