Stephen A. LaGarde

B.A., University of Virgnia; J.D., Georgetown. Stephen LaGarde is a senior manager in the Global Employer Services group in the Washington National Tax office of Deloitte Tax specializing in compensation and employee benefit issues. He has approximately ten years of experience advising clients on qualified and nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements, health and welfare plans, equity compensation, fringe benefits, and employment tax issues. Stephen is a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist and a member of the American Bar Association and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is currently serving on the AICPA’s Employee Benefits Tax Technical Resource Panel and the AICPA’s Health Care Tax Task Force. Stephen graduated with highest distinction from the University of Virginia and holds a law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as editor in chief of The Tax Lawyer. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2002, he worked in the McLean, Virginia office of another Big Four accounting firm.
