Professor Lake works with international law students in the Graduate Legal Writing Center and the Language Center at Georgetown Law. She received her B.A. from Oberlin College and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Linguistics from Georgetown University, and she has over 15 years of teaching experience. Her classroom experience includes teaching Legal Writing and Conversation Workshops, teaching classes in English as a Second Language (ESL) for Academic Purposes at Georgetown University and the University of Maryland. In addition, she has taught conversational English in Berlin, Germany. She also has experience with teacher training, having instructed a methods course for second/foreign language teachers at Georgetown University and a second language teaching methods workshop in Camaguey, Cuba. In addition to her teaching experience, she has carried out classroom-based and psycholinguistic research on reading comprehension and the best practices for needs analyses in instructional settings, to name a few studies.
